A lot is happening!

Over TWO months since we left Gainesville and arrived in Haiti!  It seems like yesterday, yet so much as happened! We are beginning to get some grasp on our responsibilities here, at least for now. A little more about that later!

Work on our home in Simon

The house in Simon on Rue Medard
We've settled into our temporary home at the mission center in Citi Lumiere and are beginning to see our new home in Simon take shape!

Digging the foundation for a support post

Starting the tile up the steps to the roof
Thanks to the Second Cape Map, NJ work team who came down just to work on the house. SO MUCH TO DO! We have to admit that we are excited about the move, but yet feel hesitant. Excited because we can finally feel settled in. Hesitant because the house (we'll live upstairs and a German family downstairs) is in the middle of the village of Simon rather than the mission center.

We will not have as many conveniences, especially 24 hour electricity. In fact, it can be 6-8 hours/day electricity or NO electricity.  BUT, remember that we are in Haiti! We'll have unlimited opportunities to speak Kreyol and relate to the people here.

UHHH!  The kitchen! Before!

A proud BOSS Ti-Louis, builder of the kitchen - almost done!
